Preacher Green’s

* BRAND IDENTITY } ILLUSTRATION # WEBSITE DESIGN

Preacher Green’s is a modern meat & three recently opened on Athens’ east side. The concept behind Preacher Green’s is rooted in classic southern diners, with an elevated twist. Chef Ted Lahey has created a southern inspired menu, bringing his fine dining experience to a counter service setting. And it’s real good, y’all. We originally met with co-owners Paul and Ted to develop a brand for their new venture. We talked about their history with Athens, their inspirations for the restaurant, and constantly focused

on a concept of bridging the past with modern convenience. As we started focusing on visual concepts, Ted showed us a photo of his great aunt in front his family’s hand-painted “Lahey Ice Cream” sign. We immediately knew this was where we would pull inspiration from the brand.

Based on his family’s sign, we created custom lettering for Preacher Green’s logo to bring a piece of that history into their new restaurant.

Illustrations

The name of the restaurant pays homage to the man who once owned the land that it is built on, while also quickly conveying the restaurant’s southern fare. Once the brand was defined, we created collateral for their opening including lunch and dinner menus, business cards, social posts, and other branded materials.

To accompany the custom type, we created a vintage inspired illustration style that is used throughout the website and on other collateral. The logo itself features “the greens”, but we also developed illustrations of the plates, exterior, and the inspiration for the name itself, Preacher Green.

Website

We created a website for Preacher Green’s that mimics the gridded style of the menu designs. The site is simple and straight to the point, pointing customers to the menu, location & hours, and a bit about owners

Ted and Paul. The site and branding use our studio’s custom font, Good Hand Sans. Browse the full Preacher Green’s site here!

The nod to history plays into their whole dining room, which features a gallery wall of old photographs, hand painted signage, and vintage posters. Photographs of the dining room and food were graciously shared with us by Dallas Anne Duncan Photography.
